The Scratch Cat Pokémon
Meowth is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It is famous for its signature move, Pay Day, and its obsession with shiny objects, particularly round coins. Meowth features a koban coin on its forehead.

Team Rocket's Meowth
Perhaps the most famous Meowth is the one belonging to Team Rocket in the Pokémon anime. Unlike mostly all other Pokémon, this Meowth taught himself how to speak human language and walk on two legs to impress a female Meowth named Meowzie. He serves as the brains of the Team Rocket trio alongside Jessie and James.
Regional Forms
Meowth is unique as it is one of the very few Pokémon to have multiple regional forms! Depending on the region, Meowth has adapted to its environment in completely different ways.
Alolan Meowth
Type: Dark
Introduced in Generation VII, Alolan Meowth live in the Alola region. They were originally brought to Alola as gifts for royalty. The luxurious lifestyle caused them to become selfish, prideful, and transformed their typing to Dark.
Galarian Meowth
Type: Steel
Introduced in Generation VIII, Galarian Meowth live with savage seafaring people in the Galar region. Their bodies have hardened into iron after years of living in harsh environments, changing them into a Steel-type.
Evolutionary Line
- Kantonian Meowth evolves into Persian starting at level 28.
- Alolan Meowth evolves into Alolan Persian when leveled up with high friendship.
- Galarian Meowth evolves into Perrserker starting at level 28.
